Sutter Creek Vineyards
was established in 1988 by John L. Bree, a third generation California grape
grower. Today Sutter Creek Vineyards is a family affair as John L's son,
John H, along with his daughter Gretchen and her family have joined the business.
Sutter Creek Vineyards has a wide assortment of varieties, comprising
approximately 170 acres. Our vineyard is located in the Sierra Foothills of
California at an elevation of 2,000 ft. Temperatures, while occasionally
reaching 100+ degrees Fahrenheit, are typically in the 90's. Our soils are composed of a rich sandy clay
loam mixed with cobble stones. We have delta breezes throughout the summer
months which help make for a mild climate. We try to maintain a crop load of no
more than 5 tons/acre. We believe that the combination of our
micro-climate, soils, and cultural practices make for a high quality grape.
